Rapala Rage Baitcasting Reel

Rapala has finally launched its long awaited Rage 'Custom Tuned' baitcaster RG100SR / RG100SL.

Features:
Rigid Drive Train - for efficient transmission of power when cranking
Centrifugal Braking System
Low startup inertia spool (weighing 16g)
Ergonomic EVA knobs
Indexing star drag

Gear ratio: 6.5:1
Max drag: 9lb
Weight: 188g
Bearings: 6/1
Max retrieve per turn: 65cm
Line Capacity: 0.20/200m / 0.24/130m / 0.28/90m

With a rather lightweight spool, the Rage is versatile enough to pitch light lures with or punch out large crankbaits. The best part - it's saltwater OK!

With a MSRP of only RM299.00, the Rage is quite a baitcast reel to be reckoned with given its relatively low price point. Available in Left or Right hand retrieve.

New for 2014: Rapala MaxRap Fat Minnow

Riding on the long-casting capability of the Rapala MaxRap concept, the new Rapala MaxRap Fat Minnow now comes in a broader side profile and larger girth to give a slightly larger 'presence'. One of the key characteristics of the new MaxRap Fat Minnow is the ability to dive deep very quickly upon the first few cranks and yet allowing anglers to make long-casts with accuracy. This is made possible with Rapala's patented Max Cast mechanism balanced with tungsten balls.

Action wise, the Rapala MaxRap Fat Minnow has a very tight, tail-kicking action that rises slowly on the pause. On a recent trip to Thailand when conditions were a bit more challenging, the Rapala MaxRap Fat Minnow produced some nice Sebarau on the bright-coloured patterns. Being able to cast further is a distinct advantage when fish are spooky. On top of that, being able to quickly dive deep into the strike zone upon water entry is another plus point that enabled us to extract some deep holding fish too.

A Storm is brewing....

The Storm Gomoku Keiryo is probably Rapala Southeast Asia's worst kept secret. Photos of the PE04.1-1 variant of the Gomoku Erito have emerged on the web way way before it's launch, and not to mention the many raves it got after its debut in Australia before Christmas. Looks like micro jigging fever has finally caught on! So when's the official release in Southeast Asia?

Check out shops end January 2014. These are short-butt versions of the Keiryo, making it much more comfortable to flick and wrist-jig with.

Rapala Reel: More photos...

Good news for centrifugal braking baitcaster fans! Looks like the upcoming 'red hot' Rapala reel will have centrifugal braking instead of the usual *yawn* magnetic brake cast control system!

A Rapala Reel in 2014?

We've received countless enquires about that mysterious 'red baitcaster' used alongside the Storm Mojo baitcasting rod in the Storm Mojo advertisement

The good news is that the mysterious 'Rapala Reel' will be unveiled coming in the first quarter of 2014! Apparently it features a 'rigid drive train' support system for more efficient gear meshing, energy transfer and power.

Stay tuned for more info.
