40kg Chao Phraya Catfish from Bangkok

Sifu Darren C (a.k.a. son_of_clouser) reports in with an extraordinary catch from one of the Bangkok monster ponds. Both he and a friend were spending the day casting away and guess what they got?

A rare 40kg Chao Phraya Catfish on Rapala Glidin' Rap! (Darren and friend, you guys've done it again!)

Let the pics do the talking....

Rapala Husky Returns!

Good news for us Asia Pacific anglers! The once discontinued legendary balsa Husky 13 is back! Although there is no official confirmation of a release date, Rapala Insider understands that the lures should be making its way to tackleshop shelves very soon, with rumours of some other old discontinued Rapala favourites too.

Here's an excerpt from the folks at Rapala:

"The classic Husky 13 features strong casting characteristics that do not impart the Rapala "wounded-minnow" action on retrieve. Strong casting characteristics allow casting with heavier line and into the wind.

Features:
- Balsa Wood Construction
- Classic Rapala Swimming Action
- Excellent Casting Lure
- Running Depth: 1.2-2.4m
- Weight: 11g

Yabai Dabai Doo Part Deux

FG reports in some good fish on Williamson Yabai jigs on their trip last week. Too bad I wasn't able to join them but was definitely drooling at the sight of the beauties! Why didn't I go?!?!

Let the pictures start talking...

I dont know what magic FG wielded but he hit a Parrotfish on Yabai!

I'm already drooling...

The usual suspects?

Playful Dolphins

I think for most Malaysian and Singaporean anglers, dolphin sightings and having them race alongside the boat en route to fishing grounds are a pretty common sight.

What I came across on one trip was a pod of 'playful' dolphins that gave us a spectacular show even better than Hong Kong's Ocean Park or Sea World. We literally gave up fishing, since the fishes totally went off the bite when they arrived, and enjoyed the spectacular acrobatics, flips and jumps!

I didn't really snap good pictures but here's some better pics from the lot

Shark?

SHARKS!!

Nah... playful dolphins. Look at this fella jump!

Showing off

The show's better than Ocean Park - best of all, its free!

Water re-entry

How many dolphins can you spot in this pic?

Happily cruising...

On another fishing trip, we spotted a pod that came right close to shore within 20m! Folks from Penang would definitely recognize this place ;)

Popping Barra

Storm Chug Bugs were the order for the day for our usual spot.

We got pretty bored with the swimming lures and since there was pretty happening action all around us, we tried popping for the Barra instead. For at least half an hour, it was beserk!

Managed to take a short clip on my Canon Ixus 860IS on the eager beavers. Those fish are hungry!
